Diagnostic groups
The post-polio syndrome requires specialized rehabilitation. We have over 30 years of experience in rehabilitation of post-polio. Cooperation with the Karolinska Institute makes it possible to access the latest information on and treatment modalities of post-polio.
Neck injuries, such as whiplash, requires early treatment and rehabilitation. We have long experience in rehabilitation of such conditions. The rehabilitation programmes are based on individual as well as group training. An early rehabilitation may have a substantial impact on the possibility of learning how to manage problems in everyday life as well as life at work.
Patients with stroke-associated disabilities also demand an individually targeted rehabilitation. Together with the guest the team establishes both short- as well as long-term goals for rehabilitation. Mälargården is designed for rehabilitation and the guests are supported in achieving an improved function as well as
training in daily life activities.
Rehabilitation post-surgery helps the patient to recover as well to learn an appropriate gait after e.g. hip surgery.
Patients with chronic obstructive lung disease benefit from instruction in optimal breathing techniques and learn techniques with the aim of reducing problems of accumulating secretions in the lung. It is also important to strengthen the general condition through physical training.
Inflammatory joint- and muscle disorders. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis as well as multiple sclerosis are among the guests who receive rehabilitation support at Mälargården. We have long experience of helping these guests in achieving good rehabilitation results.
