Personnel

Management
The management is responsible for the compliance with the highest standards of patient security and that the staff is continuously updated on the demands of evidence based rehabilitation made by authorities, customers and guests. A good working environment means that our guests are meeting a harmonious and updated staff which is of utmost importance to the outcome of the rehabilitation.

Administration
The administration is responsible for the initial contacts with the guests and that they receive an introduction to the rehabilitation process before they arrive. The guests receive questionnaires before they come to Mälargården. This means that the staff is prepared to meet the individual needs of our guests at the time of their arrival.

Doctors
Our doctors are specialists in rehabilitation medicine. They admit the patients and perform a general as well as specific examination at the time of arrival. Together with the guest and the rest of the team they establish an individual rehabilitation plan. At the end of the stay at Mälargården the doctor summarizes the rehabilitation outcome in a so-called epicrisis.

Nurse and nursing staff
The nurse has the medical responsibility and ensures that the individual´s medical needs are continuously monitored and met. She or he coordinates the medical care with rest of the rehabilitation team. The care is handled by nurses and nursing staff with long and thorough experience in rehabilitation.
Nursing staff is on call 24 hours a day.

The welfare officer
The welfare officer assists the guest with the psychosocial part of the rehabilitation. She assists in contacts with authorities, supports the guest during the stay and prepares for his or her homecoming after the active rehabilitation period at Mälargården.

Physiotherapist
The physiotherapist makes an in depth analysis of functional disabilities and together with the guest she tailor-makes a physiotherapy programme which is carefully monitored during the stay. At the end of the stay she evaluates the outcome of the rehabilitation and her evaluation is incorporated in the final epicrisis.

Occupational therapist
The occupational therapist analyses the functional disabilities that limit the guest in her daily and working life activities, working together with the guest in training and education to achieve maximum functional and activity.

Leisure time
Our staff is focussing on making leisure-time as meaningful to the guest as possible during his or her stay. The objective is, if possible, to integrate training into the leisure activities and our dedicated staff arranges excursions and activity programmes during evenings and week-ends.

The kitchen
The food is an important part of the rehabilitation. With our own kitchen and an experienced staff we adapt the cuisine to the individual needs and taste of the guest. Education in nutritional cooking is a part of the trainingprogramme.

Psychologist
In some of the rehabilitation programmes psychological aspects are incorporated. The psychologist focuses on crisis management, relaxation techniques and provides tools that help the guest to manage daily- as well as working life after the stay at Mälargården. ( Each patient receives a CD with appropriate training programme to take home for further practise)
